Western Michigan says the general GRE isn't required, but this isn't a paperwork-light application. You'll send a resume, three recommendations, a 500 to 1,500 word statement and your transcript. It's a public university with one fully online rate of $868.04 per credit, and admissions are rolling.

Lasell requires no GMAT or GRE, though you do need college-level statistics, and Khan Academy before your first class counts. The application is light: transcripts, a one-page statement and a resume. McNeese is a public school that doesn't require the GRE, but it does want a related background. You'll need an undergraduate major or minor in kinesiology, health and human performance or something close, plus three hours each of exercise physiology and tests and measures. Two concentrations: health and wellness promotion, or sports performance.

Logan waives the GRE and sets a plain bar: a 2.5 GPA, plus six credits in physics, kinesiology, exercise science, biomechanics or statistics and six in biological science. At $700 per credit and 36 credits, you can finish in one year, then complete a 90-hour internship at a site you choose.

Memphis reviews your background instead of a test score. It looks at GPA, work experience and a narrative statement about your goals, and it accepts self-taught exercise and nutrition knowledge. Residents and non-residents both pay $697 per credit through UofM Global, and you can finish in as few as 12 months.

ETSU doesn't require the GRE, and your undergraduate degree doesn't have to be related to exercise science. That's useful if you're moving in from another field and want a strength and conditioning concentration.
