UW-Whitewater is a public university in Whitewater, Wisconsin. Its Department of Kinesiology, in the College of Education and Professional Studies, runs the degree, and UW-Whitewater Online hosts the distance version. The bachelor's is Human Performance, and you pick the Exercise Science Emphasis. The catalog says the emphasis points toward cardiac rehabilitation, exercise physiology, strength and conditioning, nutrition, sport and exercise psychology, and coaching.

The major is broader than exercise science alone. Medical Terminology, Motor Behavior and Health Behavior Development and Society sit next to the physiology core. The online page's own career list reads like communications jobs, such as campaign specialist, which doesn't match the catalog. Trust the catalog.

The 120 credits split into 45 general education, 6 in B.S. requirements, 47 in the major and about 22 in your minor. The catalog counts the major at 48 units, and its four-year plan totals 116 to 129 units depending on internship and minor.

The science core includes PEPROF 201 and 202 Structure and Function of the Human Body I and II, PEPROF 302 Biomechanics of Sport and Exercise, PEPROF 415 Health Appraisal and Exercise Testing, PEPROF 416 Exercise Prescription and Fuel Utilization and PEPROF 471 Physiology of Exercise. PEPROF 415 covers electrocardiography and graded exercise testing. Those last three need a college biology course first.

Also required are STAT 230, PEPROF 282 Nutrition for Health, PEPROF 311 Exercise Psychology and PEPROF 270 Motor Behavior. PEPROF 209 has you research careers and outline internship plans. PEPROF 481 is a research capstone, and PEPROF 493 is the 6 to 12 unit internship.

Read "starting at" carefully. UW-Whitewater Online's cost page says rates vary by program and asks you to request information for the exact number. Most online programs there charge one rate for everyone, and this one splits by residency. Get a written quote.

UW-Whitewater is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission, a regional accreditor. The major's pages name no programmatic accreditation.

The Strength and Conditioning minor's catalog page says the major meets requirements for NSCA recognition. NSCA has replaced that recognition program with CASCE, the Collegiate Accreditation for Strength and Conditioning Education, and UW-Whitewater's pages don't show a CASCE listing.

From August 15, 2027, ACSM-EP and ACSM-CEP candidates must graduate from a CAAHEP-accredited program or one that has started the process. From January 1, 2030, U.S. CSCS candidates need a bachelor's from a CASCE-accredited program.
