Cameron's online B.S. in Sports and Exercise Science is one of the lowest-priced bachelor's degrees on this site for Oklahoma residents. Residents pay $236.50 per credit with mandatory fees included, and Cameron froze tuition for 2026-27.

You get real exercise physiology courses, a required practicum and the prerequisites for Oklahoma physical therapist assistant programs. Out-of-state students pay $550.50 per credit, and the program lists no CAAHEP or CASCE accreditation.

Cameron University is a public university in Lawton, Oklahoma, founded in 1909 as an agricultural high school. It's accredited by the Higher Learning Commission, and its Office of Distance Learning lists this B.S. among the programs you can complete fully online.

The degree sits in the Department of Sports and Exercise Science. The current requirements sheet asks for 120 credit hours: 45 in required sports and exercise science courses, 15 in guided electives, and the rest in general education and electives.

Cameron's department page names coaching, fitness training, health education, recreation and sports officiating as career paths, and calls the degree a foundation for graduate study in physical therapy, occupational therapy, athletic training and exercise physiology.

Cameron runs fall, spring and summer semesters of 16 weeks, so you can start three times a year. Its plan is a four-year path, and transfer credit can shorten it.

The catch is the rotation. Each core course is marked with the terms it's offered and the terms it's online. Nutrition and First Aid run online in summer, but the other core courses are online in fall or spring only. SES 4013 Physiology of Exercise Lab, for example, is offered in fall and spring but online only in spring.

Those lab, prescription and practicum courses depend on each other. Cameron's plan marks the practicum as a critical course you must take in the listed semester, so plan your terms with an advisor early.

Who It Fits

• Oklahoma residents who want a bachelor's without much debt. At $236.50 per credit, 120 credits comes to $28,380 before the other fees on Cameron's tuition page. Cameron says a full-time resident year of 30 credits costs just under $7,100.
• Future physical therapist assistant students. Cameron says the curriculum includes every prerequisite course that Oklahoma PTA programs require. If you're aiming at a different state, check that program's list against Cameron's courses first.
• Coaches and would-be teachers. Guided electives include Leadership and Coaching, Sport Psychology and Strength Training, and Cameron embeds a 15-hour Certificate in Coaching and Teaching. The department also lists teaching through the Oklahoma State Department of Education's Alternative Placement Program.

Who Should Skip It

• Out-of-state students watching the bottom line. The non-resident rate is $550.50 per credit, which is $66,060 over 120 credits. Compare it with our cheapest online exercise science degrees before you apply.
• Anyone planning on the ACSM exercise physiologist exam or the CSCS. Cameron lists no CAAHEP or CASCE accreditation, and it isn't on the CAAHEP list we pulled on September 29, 2026.
• Students who need every course on demand. Cameron's online rotation is fixed by term, and some required courses run online in only one semester a year.

The 15 core courses are all three credits. Early ones are SES 2023 Nutrition, SES 2033 First Aid, SES 2043 Intro to Sports and Exercise Science and SES 3013 Applied Anatomy and Kinesiology. Then you move into SES 3033 Physiology of Exercise, SES 3043 Biomechanics, SES 3003 Sports Nutrition and SES 3023 Care and Prevention of Athletic Injuries.

The applied end is SES 4013 Physiology of Exercise Lab, which the catalog describes as applying practical skills and technologies to measure how exercise affects health, and SES 4023 Exercise Prescription, covering exercise testing and prescription for healthy people and special populations. SES 4003 Motor Learning, SES 4043 Research Methods, SES 3053 Facility Management and SES 4033 Legal Aspects finish the core.

You also pick 15 hours from electives such as Health Coaching, General Medical Conditions, Personal Training and Recreation for Special Populations. You need a C or better in every core and elective course.

Cameron's 2026-27 rates are per semester hour and include $56 of mandatory fees. Oklahoma residents pay $236.50, a Guaranteed undergraduate rate is $263.00, and non-residents pay $550.50. Over 120 credits that's $28,380 for residents and $66,060 for non-residents.

The same page lists extra fees that may apply to you: a $9.00 Sports and Exercise Science fee and a $20.00 Supplemental Off-Campus fee per semester hour, a $10.00 Intentional Learning fee per semester hour and a $50.00 Wellness Center fee per semester. It doesn't say which apply to online students.

Active-duty personnel and eligible dependents with orders to an Oklahoma duty location get the in-state rate.

120 credits at $550.50 a credit comes to $66,060 in tuition, before fees. At the in-state rate of $236.50, the same 120 credits come to $28,380.

Cameron is institutionally accredited by the Higher Learning Commission. The program itself lists no CAAHEP accreditation and no CASCE accreditation, and neither list we checked shows it.

That matters for two dates. From August 15, 2027, ACSM-EP and ACSM-CEP candidates must graduate from a CAAHEP-accredited program. From January 1, 2030, U.S. CSCS candidates need a bachelor's from a CASCE-accredited program. If either credential is your goal, use our certification-ready list instead.

The department says the degree supports ACSM, NSCA and ACE certifications. The personal trainer exams from those groups don't require a degree.

• Cameron's pages disagree on credits. The 2026-27 requirements sheet shows 120 hours, while the 2025-27 catalog and the online degree plan show 124. Four credits is $946 at the resident rate and $2,202 at the non-resident rate.
• The online rotation is narrow. Several required courses are online in only one term a year, and the lab, prescription and practicum courses depend on each other, so a missed term can push back graduation.
• The practicum has a required workshop and an approved internship site, but Cameron's pages don't give a number of hours. Find out before you count on doing it near a job.
• Cameron's federal graduation rate is 31 percent. That number covers the whole university, not this degree.
