Blinn College District Online Kinesiology, Associate of Science

Blinn's online Associate of Science in Kinesiology is a transfer starter, and it's priced like one. A Texas resident in the Blinn district pays $64 per credit in tuition, or $144 with the $80 general fee, and the full 60 credits come to $8,640.

It's mostly Texas core classes with a handful of kinesiology courses, so think of it as the first two years of a bachelor's. It doesn't qualify you for a professional credential by itself.

Blinn College District is a public community college district based in Brenham, Texas, with campuses in Brenham and Bryan, a presence at RELLIS, and a Blinn Online option. It's accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) to award associate degrees. Federal data for the district show 18,095 students and an 11 percent graduation rate, both district-wide figures.

The A.S. is 60 semester credit hours over four semesters of 16, 16, 13 and 15 hours. The Health and Kinesiology department describes its pathways as coaching, sport management, and professional careers such as physical therapy and athletic training.

Blinn asks you to meet with an advisor once you've finished 30 hours, ideally with a transfer school picked by then.

Blinn says the A.S. can be completed online or on the Brenham and Bryan campuses. Online sections carry an N in the section number, and classes run through the eCampus learning system, with an orientation course to get you started. Ask each instructor whether a course meets live or runs on its own schedule.

Some online classes require on-campus or remote testing, so read your schedule before assuming everything happens from home. You'll need a webcam and microphone. Blinn's technical support office is on the Bryan campus.

The kinesiology Field of Study version of the degree is a separate plan, and it's offered only on campus. Make sure you're registering for the plain A.S. if you want to stay online.

Who It Fits

• Texas residents who plan to finish a bachelor's at a Texas university. Blinn says its students have transferred to Texas A&M, Sam Houston State, Texas State and Tarleton State, and Tarleton offers a B.S. in Kinesiology at the RELLIS campus in Bryan.
• Future physical therapy or athletic training students who want cheap prerequisites first. Blinn describes the degree as a pre-physical therapy and pre-athletic training path, and you can compare options in our pre-physical therapy list.
• Anyone testing the field before paying university prices. Blinn says its students save approximately 52 percent in tuition and fees compared with the average Texas state university.

Who Should Skip It

• Anyone who wants a credential they can use after two years. Exercise physiologist and strength coach certifications both ask for a bachelor's degree, so this associate degree can't lead there on its own.
• Out-of-state students hoping for a bargain. The out-of-state rate is $279 per credit, or $359 with the $80 fee, and the 60 credits come to $21,540. Cheaper online options exist.
• Students who need a science-heavy plan. This one is general education first, so check its courses against the prerequisites at the schools you're aiming for.

Here's how exercise-science-heavy it is: not very. Only five courses carry the KINE prefix, and they total 13 of the 60 credits. KINE 1304 Personal/Community Health, KINE 1301 Foundations of Kinesiology, KINE 1306 First Aid and KINE 1346 Drug Use and Abuse are the 3-credit defaults. KINE 1164 Physical Fitness and Wellness is a 1-credit course. Each 3-credit slot allows another KINE x3xx course.

Science is BIOL 1406 and BIOL 1407, Biology for Science Majors I and II, at 4 credits each. The plan says to talk with an advisor, because the right biology depends on where you transfer.

Everything else is the Texas core: English composition, math, U.S. history, federal and state government, psychology, ethics, public speaking, a creative arts course and two electives. Blinn's listed skills include planning a personal fitness program and judging the validity of health information.

Blinn charges by residency. For 2026-27, tuition per semester hour is $64 for in-district Texas residents, $123 for other Texas residents and $279 for out-of-state students, plus an $80 general fee per hour. Course, lab and other fees can apply.

With the general fee, that's $144, $203 and $359 per credit. At 60 credits, in-district students pay $8,640, or $3,840 in tuition alone. Out-of-district Texas residents pay $12,180. Out-of-state students pay $21,540, or $16,740 in tuition alone.

In-district means living, paying taxes or owning property in Washington County for six months before you register. Blinn says its students save approximately 52 percent in tuition and fees compared with the average Texas state university.

60 credits at $359 a credit comes to $21,540 in tuition, before fees. At the in-state rate of $144, the same 60 credits come to $8,640.

Blinn is accredited by SACSCOC, a regional accreditor, and Blinn says online courses count the same as face-to-face ones. That matters for transfer, though each receiving university decides how classes apply.

There's no programmatic accreditation and no certification prep at the associate level. The ACSM exercise physiologist and NSCA CSCS exams need a bachelor's. From August 15, 2027, ACSM candidates must graduate from a CAAHEP-accredited program or one in process. From January 1, 2030, U.S. CSCS candidates need a bachelor's from a CASCE-accredited program.

• Only 13 of 60 credits are kinesiology courses, and none are exercise physiology, biomechanics or anatomy and physiology as such.
• Blinn's pages ask you to choose a transfer destination by 30 hours, and the receiving school decides what counts.
• Some online courses may require testing on campus, which can be a burden if you live far away.
• The district's 11 percent graduation rate is low, and it isn't specific to this program. It's worth asking Blinn how many kinesiology students transfer without finishing.

• Which four-year kinesiology or exercise science programs have accepted Blinn transfers most recently, and can I see their equivalency guides?
• Do the biology courses in the plan meet the prerequisites for my target physical therapy or athletic training school?
